Her mom, played by Garner, searches relentlessly for a solution. Mar 15, 2016 · · Articles, Guest Appearances · Comments Off on Jennifer Garner Is a Total Sweetheart While Crashing an Elementary School Mother-Daughter Dance

E!Online shared this cute story about Jennifer ‘crashing’ an Elementary School dance in California during shooting for her new film The Tribes of Palos Verdes.

This mom of three knows a thing or two about school dances.

Jennifer Garner took a break from her hectic acting schedule to surprise a group of schoolgirls at their mother-daughter dance Saturday.

While shooting for her upcoming film The Tribes of Palos Verdes at the Friendly Hills Country Club, the female students of Grazide Elementary School in Hacienda Heights, Calif. were busy boogieing the evening away alongside their moms.

When she could finally steal a moment away from her work, the actress visited the little ladies and thanked them for their good behavior.

“Thank you all for being so patient because I know movies can be a hassle to have shooting around you,” she said in front of the excited group.

It doesn’t seem like any of the girls were too upset about Garner crashing the party. She was met with cheers and applause as she spoke before the crowd.

A source tells E! News, “She [Jennifer] felt bad so she came in and said hello. Everyone was so excited. It was a nice surprise. A memorable night that’s for sure!”

Penelope Han, who attended with her daughter, told us: “We had some problems with the production staff and Jennifer Garner came down to apologize to the girls. She was so sweet. The girls were so excited as soon as they found out she’s from 13 going on 30. And of course the moms were ecstatic!”

Garner is no stranger to interacting with little girls—her daughters Violet and Seraphina are both elementary school age as well. Along with son Samuel, the star is very protective of her trio of kids and is hesitant to expose them to too much of the spotlight.

“They have school tomorrow and they’re doing homework and practicing piano and going to bed,” she told E!’s Marc Malkinat the red carpet premiere of her latest film, Miracles from Heaven.
Despite their June divorce filing, Garner and her former husband of 10 years Ben Affleck remain a unit for the sake of their kin.

“The main thing is these kids—and we’re completely in line with what we hope for them,” she told Vanity Fair. “Sure, I lost the dream of dancing with my husband at my daughter’s wedding. But you should see their faces when he walks through the door. And if you see your kids love someone so purely and wholly, then you’re going to be friends with that person.”

Mar 14, 2016 · · Articles, Family · Comments Off on Ben Talks About Jennifer & the Vanity Fair Article

Ben is doing press for his upcoming film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and during an interview with the New York Times, Ben finally spoke out about both the Vanity Fair article and their divorce. Below are the relative part from the interview.

The comic-book blockbuster has shone an intense spotlight on Mr. Affleck following the announcement that he and his wife, Jennifer Garner, plan to divorce after a 10-year marriage. Amid a torrent of tabloid reports alleging bad behavior, infidelity and questionable tattoos, he finds himself at maximum attention at an especially humbling moment.

“It never seems like a great time to have your privacy invaded,” Mr. Affleck said warily. “Obviously this is a particularly hard time.”

Then, the day before this interview was to take place, he was hit with a bombshell. Vanity Fair magazine published an interview with Ms. Garner, in which she discussed the dissolution of their relationship. Speaking of Mr. Affleck, she told the magazine: “I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”

In person, Mr. Affleck was friendly and funny, but also soft-spoken and vulnerable. At times he seemed anxious and out of sorts, as if waiting for some other shoe to drop.

Despite vowing not to, he did eventually address Ms. Garner’s Vanity Fair profile.

Home would hardly seem like a refuge for Mr. Affleck right now, not while the particulars of his relationship with Ms. Garner are being publicly dissected, and not after Ms. Garner’s Vanity Fair interview, which, for all its affection toward him, depicts him as an absent and enigmatic husband. “I’m still the only person that knows some of his truths,” she said in the article. (She denied that Mr. Affleck had broken up their marriage by trysting with a family nanny.)

Mr. Affleck said at first that he does not publicly discuss his family for the sake of his three children and “because it ends up being in the record somewhere, in the great miasma of junk on the Internet.”

Asked if Ms. Garner had made that impossible by sharing intimate details of their lives, he said: “Jen’s great. She’s a great person. We’re on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so that’s the reality that I live in.”

Whatever anyone might conclude from her interview, Mr. Affleck said Ms. Garner and their children plan to visit him during the filming of “Justice League” so they can vacation in Europe as a family.

“She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with,” he said, “so she could say, ‘Look, I already talked about it — I don’t want to do it again.’”

He added: “It’s fine. She’s allowed to talk about it.”

Mar 14, 2016 · · Articles, Miracles From Heaven · Comments Off on Jennifer Garner finds faith, again, in ‘Miracles From Heaven’

It wasn’t Christy Beam’s idea to have Jennifer Garner, or any other movie star, portray her.

When approached about a film adaptation of her memoir, Miracles From Heaven — an account of how Beam’s daughter Annabel survived a harrowing accident and surmounted an unrelated, life-threatening medical crisis — Beam, 43, politely refused to offer advice on casting. “I said, ‘I don’t do that for a living,’ ” she says. “But when I found out it was Jennifer, I was so honored and humbled.”

For Garner, also 43, the decision to play Beam in the film (in theaters Wednesday) was a no-brainer. “I stayed up all night reading the script with a knot in my stomach,” the actress says.

At that point, Beam’s book, published last April, wasn’t even out yet. But author and preacher DeVon Franklin had a tip from a friend who knew Beam had a book deal. Franklin loved the concept, as did his fellow producers T.D. Jakes (also a pastor, who shares Beam’s literary agent) and Joe Roth (Jakes’ partner in producing the inspirational 2014 film Heaven Is for Real). “Everyone felt this would be a fantastic follow-up,” says Franklin, and screenwriter Randy Brown was enlisted to adapt Beam’s book.

In the new movie, 12-year-old Kylie Rogers plays Annabel (often called Anna) who suffers from a rare disorder that leaves her unable to digest food. Following a long ordeal that upends the lives of Christy’s husband and their two other daughters, Anna suffers a potentially fatal accident, but emerges relatively unscathed, and seemingly cured.

Faith has long played a role in Garner’s life: She and estranged husband Ben Affleck had their three children baptized at the same United Methodist church she attended while growing up in West Virginia. “My parents and little sister and her family still go there,” Garner says.

But “I think I had become complacent in raising my children, almost as though (I thought) they were going to receive the ground beneath their feet that heaven had given me through osmosis,” she says. Returning home after filming, Garner raised the subject with her kids, “and they said, ‘Well, we want to go to church.’ ”

Garner “was floored, and I immediately looked up the local United Methodist church. We went there next Sunday, and it turned out to be the perfect environment. We’ve gotten so much from it; it’s like a gift Christy gave me.”

She and Beam “talked about everything” during filming, Garner says. “No stone was left unturned, from how she kept her nails while she was in the hospital to what her favorite hymns are from church, so I could make a playlist.”

But in making the film, Garner stresses, “We were careful not to preach. That’s not Christy’s message whatsoever, to tell you what to believe or how to practice. … Even if you drop faith out of the movie, there’s the message of hope, the idea of keeping your head up and knowing you can push through to the other side of a challenge.”
